Mel joined the GTB in 2020 on Bass Clarinet.
Mel started learning Recorder in 1996, then Clarinet in 1998 and Bass Clarinet in 2004.
Whilst at school, she was involved with Junior and Senior Concert Bands in addition to the Adelaide Youth Sinfonia from 2005-2008 on both Clarinet and Bass Clarinet.
Mel briefly retired from music to concentrate on her tertiary studies in Business (Commercial Law) and Human Resource Management.
For her wedding in 2015 and to her husband’s surprise, Mel picked up the Clarinet again to play his favourite song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story by Randy Newman.
Mel now works in Marketing and Events and recently joined the Committee as Publicity Officer.
Outside of band, Mel plays netball, T20 cricket and enjoys cross-stitch and ballet. She has a Grade 3 in Classical Ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance.
Mel is thoroughly enjoying her time with GTB. She looks forward to improving her skills and performing with her fellow band members.
